We combine strategic hypnotherapy techniques with clinically proven psychotherapy, which operate together to produce powerful changes. On the very first session, we will gently delve into the possible origins of your anxiety, and from there I will discuss with you the tools that you can use to shatter vicious cycles of anxiety cycle, and replace them with realistic, balanced thoughts that promote a sense of personal power.

My Therapeutic Approach
There are always reasons why we do things. Some of those reasons are “programmed into us” from an early age. Sometimes our automatic responses are the result of difficult histories. As time goes by, we form beliefs about ourselves, others and the world. Some of these beliefs serve us well. Others cause us suffering and limit who we can become. Often theses beliefs are deeply embedded within our unconscious mind. They become automatic mental “processes” that we simply follow. Through psychotherapy and strategic hypnotherapy, I can show you how these unwanted processes can be revealed, and help you move towards making new and better choices for yourself and those you love. Depending on the presenting issue, there may be no need to delve into your past. Many of these changes can be brought about without the need to revisit the past.

My Therapeutic Approach
In our sessions, I use a gentle and safe approach to hypnosis. You’ll enter a relaxed state that feels much like daydreaming or light relaxation. Throughout the process, you’ll stay fully aware and have the ability to choose which suggestions resonate with you.
Think of it like those moments when you catch yourself staring off, and your busy mind quiets briefly before you snap back to reality. This is similar to the state we’ll enter. By gently bypassing the critical and often limiting conscious mind, we can access deeper levels of your thoughts and beliefs. This helps in making meaningful changes at a foundational level, addressing barriers and blocks like self-doubt, so you can move forward with greater ease and confidence.

If you’ve struggled to find the right support, it can make your challenges feel impossible to resolve. After all, if these experts with all their training couldn’t help, then who could?! This is what I thought - now I help clients with range of techniques that (finally!) helped me.
But how do we tackle a problem like phobia, anxiety, or low self-esteem? First, we look at your journey and where you'd like to be.
Our work begins with a few key ideas - that you can separate yourself from the problem... that your problems are not you. Patterns of behaviour, thoughts and feelings are something you do, and they can change. What happened in the past doesn't determine your future, and the moment you can command is here and now.
Conscious work: we look at the 'recipe card' for your presenting problem. How does it play out in your life? Strategic Psychotherapy gets you thinking differently.
Unconscious work: NLP and hypnosis will help you to make changes on a deeper level. And it's not only about the mind; I can help you to tap into the messages your body is trying to share with you, too.
I'll share strategies to help you build mindfulness and regulate your nervous system. When you begin to manage your responses, you start to feel more confident and in control. Over sessions, you'll build your own 'toolkit' with techniques that work best for you.

How long is each session?
- 60 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
- For most presenting problems I recommend a minimum of three sessions. I respond to your needs, but always aim to help in as few sessions as possible.
Do online sessions work as well as in-person?
- Yes, online sessions are just as effective! And chances are that you'll feel most comfortable in your own home.
What do I need for online sessions?
- A stable internet connection, a quiet room, and a comfortable chair.

You are unique – your therapy should be tailored to you! While there are core principles that I work by, my range of modalities allows me to adapt to you.
You’ll learn strategies that you can use in your daily life. Brief, easy to remember tools to help you gain control of your responses and come back to calm.
Combining talk therapy and hypnosis helps align your conscious and unconscious mind. If logic and emotion are at odds, emotion will usually win – without strategies, that is.
Logic is your conscious mind. Emotion and learned responses are your unconscious mind. So, working with both is the pathway effective pathway to sustainable change.
Of course, before we start, I’ll check that my methods suit your specific challenges. For best results, you need to be an active participant! I’m Tahn Miller, a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapy and Strategic Psychotherapy practitioner at Amplify Therapies.
Several years ago, my journey into this field began when my own child battled debilitating social anxiety. Witnessing their transformation from a vibrant child to a fearful adolescent propelled me to explore various therapies. My treatment approach is straightforward and entirely focused on you, the client. It’s common to sometimes feel like you’re somehow broken while others have it all figured out, but rest assured, you’re not alone in this. People generally fall into two categories: those with effective patterns and habits and those struggling with less helpful habitual patterns. Whether these patterns are positive or negative, they result from our habitual thinking and behaviours. The great news is that all learned habits can be unlearned. Right now, you might not know how, but that’s where I come in. It’s a largely unconscious process, and I can guide you through it.
You probably recognise that simply talking about your problems doesn’t necessarily lead to meaningful solutions. That’s where hypnosis or trance-like interventions come in as powerful tools to facilitate lasting change. While you can find countless suggestions on the internet for managing anxiety and worry, many of them focus on temporary relaxation or “feel good” approaches.
These techniques can be helpful in the short term, but they may not equip you to effectively handle future life events that trigger anxiety and overwhelm. What is required in a new way to assess risk? If you are struggling, you are also making up for future catastrophes, many of which are quite unrealistic. This is the pattern that needs to change. It is not about your childhood or your controlling mother. It’s about you. That is the bad news. It’s how you are going about it. AND, that is the good news as well, because you can do something about it.
I will use the same techniques I have taught to hundreds of other therapists, including Counsellors, Hypnotherapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists, through the Institute of Applied Psychology. The expectation for most presenting issues is anything between 1-4 sessions. I charge $450+GST per hour or $1800+GST for the treatment package.
